The Mumpreneur Momentum Day, The Doubletree Hilton Ealing London, Friday 16 November 2018
Mums who run their own businesses will gather in London this November for a day of practical business training and inspiration. The London Mumpreneur Momentum Day will address burning issues like pricing, social media, time management, marketing, PR, tech, and how to tame your inner critic.
A 2016 study of nearly 2,000 women business owners by the Federation of Small Businesses reported that 25% of respondents had chosen self-employment because they wanted a good work-life balance with flexibility and the opportunity to be more involved in childcare and family life. The Mums Enterprise Career Woman To Working Mum Report stated there are now over 594,000 mumpreneurs in the UK alone and the number is rising rapidly.
The London Mumpreneur Momentum Day will be a mixture of practical business training and inspirational speakers to help mums like this to grow their businesses. The event takes place on Friday 16 November at the Doubletree Hilton, Ealing Common, when Making Mumpreneurs will bring together expertise from influential women in business including Hannah Martin from The Talented Ladies Club, Sara Tateno from Happity, Glenda Shawley from The Training Pack, Shelley Henderson small business consultant, Tara Vachell from Iceni Wellbeing, Jess Baker Women’s Leadership Coach, and Katherine Baldwin Journalist and PR Coach.
Entrepreneur Erin Thomas Wong created the Making Mumpreneurs online community to support mums starting and running businesses around family life. The inner sanctum of the group is The Cocoon online members’ club, which provides a safe place to learn, evolve and grow. The Cocoon offers video masterclasses, expert advice, member calls and continual support, all from the comfort of your own home. It is ideal for those who can't attend networking events because they are caring for their children.
Erin launched her first business in 2008 when she was living in Ealing, London. After her first child was born, she decided to leave a successful career in TV production and became a franchisee of Smallprint jewellery. She went on to co-found Ealing Mums in Business and Pitter Patter - The Hub For Bubs. In 2014, she and her business partner Shelley Henderson were recognised in The Houses of Parliament for their efforts in supporting local businesses in West London, and in 2015 they received a Mumpreneur UK Top 100 award.
She is a Finalist for the Influential Woman of The Year category in the Venus Awards. The results will be announced on 23 November 2018.
Erin, who now lives in Bournemouth, said "During my career, I have connected with many entrepreneurial mums and have been supporting them with their businesses. Our members are skilled, knowledgeable and ambitious women who are carving out their own careers around family life. This special one-day event offers them the chance to do some blue sky thinking whilst learning invaluable skills to help them grow their businesses"
At the event, Erin will also be launching the new Making Mumpreneurs Digital Hub - an innovative and easy way for her members to access training and resources and be part of the supportive MM community while they are on the go, perfect for busy mums. The new community hub is delivered on a mobile phone app provided by Ugenie, a new disruptive tech startup working to cut through the noise and overwhelm of social media platforms. The new hub will also feature an opt-in member directory and a marketplace of products and services.
The Mumpreneur Momentum Day is sponsored by Laceys Solicitors, a leading law firm on the south coast, Ugenie, a private digital engagement platform for businesses with memberships and CashPlus, an online bank for small business owners.
